William Bayley to mother, May 9, 1779

William Bayley, a soldier in the Continental Army, wrote to his mother, Jean Bayley of Falmouth, a widow, that he was staying in a private home near Philips Borough and was not sure when he would join his regiment again. He expressed concern for her financial condition.
