Description

Bangor and Aroostook Railroad engine 700, an EMD E-7, southbound passenger train at the Oakfield station. Northern Maine was served by two northbound and two southbound passenger trains each day.

When the manually operated station semiphore was in the down position it signaled that a train was to stop for orders. Out on the track, semiphores were battery powered and automatically operated to warn an engineer that the track was not clear.
