Description

Rufus King was born in Scarborough and was the first U.S. Senator from New York. This portrait of King, from Delaplaine's Repository of the Lives and Portraits of Distinguished American Characters by Joseph Delaplaine, was published in Philadelphia in 1815.

Attribution for the artwork printed beneath it states: "Painted by Wood; Engraved by Leney; B. Rogers Printer; Published by Joseph Delaplaine.
