Description
This letter to Maine's first Governor William King of Bath is from James A. Thompson of Augusta. It discusses King's real estate interests. The letter also refers to the poor economic times of 1837.
Thompson was an intermediary in negotiating a real estate transaction between King and a Mr. Wingate. This transaction was one of many between 1800 and 1840, the period when King acquired extensive land holdings in many parts of the state.
