Chamber pot and lid, Portland, ca. 1875

Description

This chamber pot and lid were thrown into the privy of a house on Brown Street in Portland that abutted the Wadsworth-Longfellow House.

When a house had running water and a bathroom, the chamber pot was no longer necessary.

This one was discovered during an excavation in 2006.
