Description

Maria Rohl, a popular Danish portrait artist of the day, sketched this portrait of Longfellow at age 28 during the poet's second trip to Europe, made in the company of his wife, Mary Potter, and their friends Clara Crowninshield and Mary Goddard.

Clara and Mary Goddard also had their portraits done by Rohl while they were in Stockholm.
